Our method
What the assessment means
RolePaths is a reflective tool, not a validated employment-risk or ability test. The directory contains 1,016 US O*NET-SOC occupations. For 910 of them, the top six essential skills use O*NET 31.0 US occupational importance ratings as relative weights; six careers also have RolePaths editorial guides. Profiles without those ratings use clearly labelled general prompts. Your self-report is 0 (not yet), 0.5 (with support) or 1 (independently). Score = 100 × Σ(weight × min(self / target, 1)) / Σweight, where target is 1. All answers are required for a single score. Unknown weight up to 20% produces a lower–upper interval; more suppresses the score. Gap priority = weight × max(target − self, 0). This is not an industry percentile, job-loss probability or professional qualification.
Community evidence stays separate
Only reviewed, non-conflicted votes enter snapshots. Each dimension needs 30 contributors and a largest declared channel share ≤50%. New submissions do not silently rewrite published snapshots. Updated weights can change a score without personal growth. Anonymous self-assessments are never used as community votes.
Paths and practice without advertising
O*NET related occupations are comparison starting points, not verified promotions or transition promises. Check local licensing and actual duties before acting. RolePaths creates a seven-day self-directed practice checklist from your stated gap and an example task; it requires no course, partner or account. The checklist stays in the current browser tab; you can save or copy the plan and reassess later. Paid partner links, if ever approved, are optional and clearly labelled. We do not supply training, certification, salary forecasts or recruitment matching.

Occupation definitions, example tasks, skill ratings and related-occupation links are selected from the O*NET 31.0 Database by USDOL/ETA, https://www.onetcenter.org/database.html , under CC BY 4.0, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ . RolePaths selected the top six ratings and authored the practice prompts and interface. USDOL/ETA has not approved, endorsed or tested these modifications. US ratings are not global benchmarks; dates of underlying skill ratings appear on career pages.
